Hello, taxpayers!
We have some exciting news to share that will make your GST registration process simpler and more secure. The GSTN team has recently made some important changes to streamline the process and enhance security. Let’s break it down step by step.
1. Rule 8 Amendment: Biometric Aadhaar Authentication
The first change involves an amendment to Rule 8 of the CGST Rules. Now, if you’ve opted for Aadhaar authentication during your GST application and have been identified on the common portal through data analysis and risk parameters, you’re in for a significant improvement.
2. Pilot Phase in Puducherry
This change is currently being tested in a pilot phase, which started on August 30, 2023, in Puducherry. This region is leading the way in testing this innovative system.
3. Message or Link
Here’s how it works: After you’ve submitted your GST registration application using Form GST REG-01, but before you receive your Application Reference Number (ARN), you’ll either receive a message or a link on your declared Mobile and Email ID.
4. Visit to GST Suvidha Kendra (GSK)
If you receive a message instructing you to visit a GST Suvidha Kendra (GSK), you’ll need to visit one. At the GSK, you’ll undergo biometric authentication, including having your photograph taken. This step is necessary for all individuals listed in your GST Application Form REG-01.
5. ARN Generation
Your Application Reference Number (ARN) will be generated only after successfully completing the biometric-based Aadhaar authentication process at the GSK. This is a crucial step in finalizing your GST registration.
